In my K-12 experience as a student in public schools, I feel like I had significant exposure to Microsoft Word. I have been using Microsoft programs for projects in school since elementary school. Microsoft Word was typically the default program used when writing essays, projects, etc. Since coming to FSU, I have continued to use Microsoft word as well as Google Docs depending on the application. When doing group work, I typically use Google Docs because it is so easy to share. However for personal work and writing I usually use Microsoft Word. I also had to take a computer fluency class at FSU, which taught me how to use some tools and functions on Word that I didn't previously know about. Overall, I would say I prefer Microsoft Word because I know how to use it better than other programs.
The standard that was the most meaningful to me was the Leader standard. I liked this standard because I think being a leader is a very important aspect of being a teacher. Being able to empower students is a skill that will help them in their professional and personal life. More specifically, I think it is important for teachers to be aware and engage in policies and committees that are connected to education and have an impact on their teaching. I liked this point of the ISTE standards. I think they were very well laid out and are good guidelines for educators to follow.
I really enjoyed the excerpt about the "digital natives." I think that this term is very accurate for our generation of people growing up with technology so integrated into our lives. I think a digital native is someone who has grown up with technology readily available, and technology was a significant part of their culture. I definitely notice a difference between how people my age use technology versus how professors and people from older generations. It seems like younger people simply are more well versed in trouble-shooting, and generally just faster at responding to technological cues. When it comes to me and my future students, I think there will be less of a technological gap between the younger generation and I. I feel like my generation is much more "fluent" in technology, therefore the gap wouldn't be as drastic.

Hi Lane! Your post does a great job of sharing your experiences with Microsoft Word and Google Docs, and I can relate to the convenience of using Google Docs for group work. I liked how you highlighted the importance of the Leader standard, especially the idea of teachers engaging in educational policies. Your thoughts on digital natives were spot on, and I agree that our generation is definitely more tech-fluent compared to older generations.
